Canalys Releases Q1 2022 Smartphone Shipment Report: The overall decline was 11%
Regarding the ranking situation, the research agency Canalys pointed out that it is currently in an unfavorable economic situation, and the performance of the smartphone market in Q1 2022 is due to sluggish seasonal demand. Samsung can be at the top of the list, mainly due to the outstanding performance of the Galaxy S22 flagship series and the low-end Galaxy A series in Europe and the United States.
The research firm Canalys also pointed out that Apple’s performance is very solid, mainly because the market demand for the iPhone 13 series is growing, so it can stabilize in the second position. As for Xiaomi in third place, Canalys said that Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series has made great achievements, and the series has been a hot seller since its release.
“The global smartphone market was held back by an unsettled business environment in Q1,” said Canalys VP Mobility Nicole Peng. “Markets saw a spike in COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant, though minimal hospitalizations and high vaccination rates helped normalize consumer activity quickly. Vendors face major uncertainty due to the Russia-Ukraine war, China’s rolling lockdowns and the threat of inflation. All this added to traditionally slow seasonal demand. Vendors must equip themselves to respond quickly to emerging opportunities and risks while staying focused on their long-term strategic plans. The good news is that the painful component shortages might improve sooner than expected, which will certainly help relieve cost pressures.”
