AUO showcased the latest 480Hz display panel

SID Display Week 2022, known as the “Oscars of the Display Industry”, will be held in San Jose, California, USA from May 10 to 12, 2022. During the period, AUO demonstrated its latest display panel, which can provide an ultra-high refresh rate of 480Hz for desktop and notebook computer screens.

According to ComputerBase, AUO showed two panels with a refresh rate of 480Hz, for 24-inch desktop monitors and 16-inch laptops, respectively, with a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 and an average response time of 1ms. It adopts AUO’s unique Twisted Nematic technology, which is commonly referred to as a TN screen by players.

At this stage, the display panels used by manufacturers are gradually shifting from TN to VA, IPS, and even OLED, and the chances of seeing TN screens are getting smaller and smaller.
AUO has not provided the specific specifications of the two 480Hz panels for the time being, nor has it determined the release time. It is said that the related products will be listed at the end of this year. Sources pointed out that AUO needs to find suitable spare parts suppliers for these panels, and may need suitable replacements due to chip shortages and cost reasons.
