ASUS’s updated ROG Strix Scar 17 SE (Special Edition) mainly uses Intel’s recently announced 12th-generation Core HX series processors, combined with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, to correspond to higher gaming computing performance.
Compared with the new Scar 17 launched earlier this year, the Scar 17 SE launched this time uses the Intel 12th generation Core i9-12950HX processor with higher computing performance, so the overall design power consumption is increased to 175W. In the heat dissipation part, liquid metal is further applied to the CPU and GPU, and the 330W power supply is replaced to provide sufficient operating power.
In addition, the new Scar 17 SE can also be connected to the new MUX Switch external graphics card box through Thunderbolt 4, thereby corresponding to higher display computing performance.
In terms of other specifications, ROG Strix Scar 17 SE includes a 17-inch screen with Full HD resolution, 360Hz frame refresh rate, or QHD resolution, 240Hz frame refresh rate specifications, both of which support 3 millisecond response time, and Adaptive-Sync anti-screen tearing technology. In addition, it is equipped with 64GB DDR5-4800Hz memory, 2TB + 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD composed of RAID 0.
The sound part supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and the battery adopts a 90Wh specification. It supports a fast-charging design that can charge from 0% to 50% in half an hour and supports USB-C 100W charging. The appearance part is also designed with theme patterns, but additional blue and green patterns that appear under purple light are added, and detachable Armor Caps are used.
The suggested price of the Scar 17 SE will start at $3,500 and is expected to be available by the end of the second quarter of this year.
