Artwork and logo of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III leaks

Although Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is still underway, the release of a new installment in the “Call of Duty” series is unequivocally anticipated. Earlier, the official “Call of Duty” Twitter account shared some insights regarding the new game, revealing that players will inherit equipment and characters from “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.” In the early hours today, Twitter user @algebra_sloth (now this tweet is removed) unveiled promotional materials for the new game, which has been officially christened “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.”

From the image, one can discern that this is the packaging for a Monster Energy drink. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” will feature a collaborative marketing endeavor with Monster Energy, with the beverage can showcasing a popular character known as Ghost along with an associated QR code for redemption. The theme color of the new game is a vibrant bright red, distinct from the blue of the first installment and the green of the second. Furthermore, the entire logo has undergone substantial revision, with the typography becoming notably robust, and the Roman numeral ‘III’ bearing a resemblance to the styling found in the “Black Ops” series. Notably, the original “Modern Warfare” trilogy consistently employed green as its theme color and Arabic numerals for its installment numbering.

According to multiple leaks, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” is reportedly being led by Sledgehammer Games, with the IW 9.0 engine from “Modern Warfare II” continuing to be utilized. This likely explains why player data can be carried over to the new installment. On Twitter, Sledgehammer Games has updated its banner image to match the color scheme of the new game.

At present, we are still unaware of the release date and testing period for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III”. However, given that related promotional materials are already appearing, it’s likely that the official “Call of Duty” team will unveil the game soon. As with previous installments, “Call of Duty: Warzone” is expected to have a corresponding reveal event.
