Apple anticipates hosting its autumn unveiling event on September 12th as an in-person launch

Although this year’s WWDC 2023 has resumed its physical format, the content of the keynote address will still be presented via prerecorded video. Reports suggest that Apple plans to employ the same method for its autumn launch event, with the content to be showcased through prerecorded videos. Only during the hands-on experience will those present on-site be able to personally engage with the new devices.

According to information obtained by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple anticipates hosting its autumn unveiling event on September 12th, Pacific Time. The event will return to a physical format, but the presentation content will be principally conveyed through prerecorded video, rather than introduced on-stage individually by CEO Tim Cook and the respective product managers. Attendees are expected to watch the prerecorded video at Apple’s headquarters before being guided to the experience area to personally explore the new devices.

The speculated reason for selecting September 12th for the autumn launch event is linked to recent reports that U.S. telecommunications companies have prohibited staff from taking leave around September 22nd. Historically, new iPhone models have typically been announced on the second Tuesday of September, with market release arranged for the following Friday. Thus, given the leave restrictions around September 22nd, the possible announcement date has been calculated to be September 12th.

Barring any surprises, Apple will still release four different iPhone models this year, including the standard iPhone 15, the enlarged screen iPhone 15 Plus, and the advanced hardware specification models of the iPhone 15 Pro and top-tier iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Among them, Pro-level and above models will likely utilize the new A17 processor, while standard models may incorporate the “upgraded” A16 processor. Furthermore, all models are expected to feature the Dynamic Island interface design and will switch to USB-C port specifications. The iPhone 15 Pro Max may even be constructed with a titanium metal frame.

In addition to the iPhone 15 series, Apple is also expected to announce the new Apple Watch Series 9 and introduce the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra. Whether or not there will be updates to the AirPods series of earphone products is currently unconfirmed.

However, regarding the product release schedule, some iPhone 15 models may be delayed until October for market release, possibly due to factors such as component supply.
