The latest Android Emulator adds support for Fuchsia

The official Android emulator from Android Studio can now launch the Zircon kernel of the Fuchsia operating system. With the official release of Flutter 1.0, it is widely known that Flutter is one of the main ways to create Fuchsia OS App, and Google is closer to launching this possible developing operating system. According to the latest news, another unexpected surprise is the official Android emulator from Android Studio, which can launch Fuchsia’s Zircon kernel.

In the past few years, Google has been working hard to develop Fuchsia to run on a variety of devices, including Pixelbook, Google Home Hub and various other prototypes. Recently, Huawei even joined the support, and Zircon can run on its popular model Honor Play. These efforts, though appreciated and encouraged, are not enough to allow some software developers to join the Fuchsia developers and start developing applications for this new platform.

Google has been working on implementing Vulkan in the Android emulator since May last year and has achieved great success in recent months. This means that we will soon see that Fuchsia will soon run graphics in the Android emulator.

It’s too early to tell if Google intends to include Fuchsia-related tools in Android Studio, but it makes sense because it allows developers to familiarize themselves with the operating system using the tools they have installed.
