AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX appears in benchmark
AMD officially launched its Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series processors last week, the ultimate workstation solution for professionals. Leveraging the performance and efficiency of the Zen 3 architecture, the new generation can deliver higher processing power in workstation workloads. The current top of the new lineup, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX, has appeared in the Passmark benchmark and far outperforms other processors.
The Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX consists of eight CCDs and one IOD, with 64 cores and 128 threads, equipped with 32MB of L2 cache and 256MB of L3 cache. The base clock is 2700 MHz, the boost clock is 4500 MHz. It supports eight-channel DDR4-3200 memory with a maximum capacity of 2TB, provides 128 PCIe 4.0 channels, and has a TDP of 280W. AMD hasn’t announced pricing for the processor, which is speculated to be somewhere between $5,000 and $6,000 and is currently offered exclusively by Lenovo’s ThinkStation P620 workstation.
In the Passmark benchmark, the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX scored 108822 which is 28% higher than the previous-generation Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3995WX and 23% higher than the EPYC 7763, which is also based on the Zen 3 architecture. Even the 24-core, 48-thread Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5965WX did better than the 32-core, 64-thread Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3975WX, 8% faster, which is a good example of the performance gains brought by the Zen 3 architecture.
