AMD releases Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series

AMD announced the official launch of the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series processors, providing professionals with the ultimate workstation solution. AMD said that on top of the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3000 series, with the performance and efficiency of the Zen 3 architecture, the new generation can bring higher processing performance in workstation workloads.

The first workstations with the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series will also be released today, and that is Lenovo’s ThinkStation P620. Equipped with all five processors in the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series, it delivers industry-leading performance for workstation users.

The Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series uses the sWRX8 socket, which is compatible with existing motherboards. There are five products in total, 64 cores, 32 cores, 24 cores, 16 cores, and 12 cores, with a TDP of 280W, providing 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, with a base clock ranging from 2700 MHz to 4100 MHz, the boost clock of different models is 4500 MHz.

The Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series also supports several AMD Pro technologies, including:
  • AMD Memory Guard – Encrypts memory to prevent physical attacks on sensitive data.
  • AMD Secure Processor – Integrated, on-chip security processor designed to protect sensitive data and validate code before it is executed.
  • AMD Shadow Stack – Innovative set of hardware protections built into the processor to help mitigate a common type of malware attack by preventing memory modification for instructions.
