AMD Releases Ryzen PRO 7000 Series Processors

Ryzen Pro serves as AMD’s processor brand for enterprise products. AMD has now officially introduced the Zen 4 architecture-based Ryzen PRO 7000 series, offering a novel option for desktop and mobile platform business PCs.

AMD has unveiled the Ryzen PRO 7000HS series and Ryzen PRO 7000U series for laptops and mobile workstations. The former’s Thermal Design Power (TDP) ranges from 35W to 54W, while the latter’s TDP varies between 15W and 28W, with three distinct products in each series.

The new generation processors, incorporating a monolithic design and fabricated with a 4nm process, offer products with 6 cores and 12 threads as well as 8 cores and 16 threads. Each Zen 4 architecture core is equipped with 1MB of L2 cache and shares 32MB of L3 cache. The integrated graphics use AMD’s latest RDNA 3 architecture, boasting up to 12 Compute Units (CUs) equivalent to 768 stream processors. After acquiring Xilinx, AMD integrated an AI acceleration engine based on the XDNA architecture. The XDNA architecture offers four concurrent processing streams for multitasking AI workloads, reducing the utilization of x86 cores and CUs. Additionally, the processors support dual-channel DDR5/LPDDR5 memory, PCIe 4.0, and integrate a USB4 controller.

On the desktop platform, AMD has launched three Ryzen PRO 7000 series for the AM5 platform, offering 6-core and 12-thread, 8-core and 16-thread, and 12-core and 24-thread products. Utilizing the brand-new Zen 4 architecture cores, they contain up to two 5nm CCD chips and one 6nm IOD chip. These support dual-channel DDR5 memory and feature a PCIe 5.0 x16 interface for a dedicated graphics card, along with two PCIe 5.0 x4 channels for NVMe SSDs. All models incorporate integrated graphics and have a TDP of 65W.

All aforementioned processors support AMD PRO technology, providing a variety of security features. They also support PRO Management and PRO Business, helping users more effectively manage and control both hardware and software. OEM manufacturers such as Lenovo and HP are set to be the first to launch products equipped with the new processors, which will go on sale in the second half of 2023.
