AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards support Vulkan version 1.3
Khronos released version 1.3 of the Vulkan specification in January, the biggest update to the graphics API in nearly two years. Subsequently, GPU manufacturers also provided support for Vulkan version 1.3 by updating drivers, including NVIDIA Maxwell to Ampere architecture, AMD RDNA, and RDNA 2 architecture, and Intel’s UHD and Iris Xe core graphics, and even the latest Ada Lovelace architecture and Xe-HPG architecture have provided support.
According to VideoCardz, Khronos also recently updated the conformance list for Vulkan version 1.3, showing that AMD’s unreleased RDNA 3 architecture GPU has completed Vulkan 1.3.3.1 conformance testing and has confirmed support for the graphics API in Ubuntu and Windows 10. In addition, Nvidia’s latest GeForce RTX 4080/4090 series also implemented support earlier this month.
AMD has made no statement about the RDNA 3 architecture’s support for other graphics APIs, such as DirectX 12 Ultimate. At present, the Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards based on the RDNA 2 architecture already support Vulkan version 1.3, and there is no update for the time being.
AMD will host a special live event called “together we advance_gaming” on November 3, 2022, to introduce the next generation of Radeon graphics cards, the Radeon RX 7000 series. AMD executives will then detail the high-performance, high-efficiency RDNA 3 architecture that provides gamers and content creators with new levels of performance, power efficiency, and functionality.
