AMD/Nvidia’s overall revenue in 2020 increase significantly and exceed $25 billion
For many industries, 2020 is a relatively tragic year, because the negative impact of the coronavirus epidemic has caused depression and even serious regression in many industries.
Although the epidemic seems to have had a serious negative impact on chip manufacturers at the beginning, in fact, the raging epidemic has also ushered in new opportunities for chip manufacturers.
That is, the rise of telecommuting has caused the sales of personal computers to grow against the trend. Personal computers require processors and graphics cards, so the shipments of this hardware have also skyrocketed.
This allowed Nvidia and AMD to usher in a prosperous period. According to market survey data, the revenue of Nvidia and Chaowei Semiconductor exceeded $25 billion in 2020.
For Nvidia and AMD, the hardware sales level has increased year by year and is relatively stable, but last year the revenue of the above-mentioned companies has increased by as much as 40-50%.
For example, Nvidia’s total revenue in 2020 is as high as 15.4 billion U.S. dollars, of course, this includes the 6.4 billion U.S. dollars in data center business revenue generated by the acquisition of Mellanox.
AMD’s total revenue in 2020 is as high as 9.7 billion US dollars. The chips sold by the company not only include graphics cards but also CPUs suitable for personal computers.
Nvidia’s annual revenue growth rate is as high as 52.2%, and AMD’s annual revenue growth rate is as high as 45%, as compared to Qualcomm’s annual growth rate of 33%.
It can be seen that the entire chip industry has achieved very good results last year. The reason is naturally that the epidemic has led to a surge in demand for network equipment around the world.
