AMD may release Radeon RX 7800 XT between 2023Q3 and Q4
AMD has unveiled two GPUs based on the RDNA 3 architecture, namely the Navi 31 and Navi 33, which correspond to the desktop platform’s Radeon RX 7900 series and Radeon RX 7600 graphics cards, both of which are now commercially available. According to previous information, the RDNA 3 architecture GPUs also include the Navi 32, which, like the Navi 31, employs a Multi-Chip Module (MCM) design, encompassing a 5nm GCD and four 6nm MCDs.
As per disclosures by RedGamingTech, the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics card is equipped with Navi 32 and fully utilizes all computational units, boasting 60 CUs, or 3840 stream processors, an Infinity Cache of 64MB, and is complemented by a 16GB GDDR6 video memory. The memory bandwidth is 256 bits, and the memory speed should be 20Gbps. It is rumored that its gaming frequency and boost frequency are around 2.6GHz and 2.8GHz, respectively, with an FP32 computational performance of 43 TFLOPs, and a total card power consumption of 280W.
In terms of performance, the Radeon RX 7800 XT is projected to outpace Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 by 5% to 10%. Compared to previous claims of its performance being close to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, it seems the performance target of the Radeon RX 7800 XT has been scaled down for reasons yet unclear. AMD tentatively slated the release of the Radeon RX 7800 XT for the end of the third quarter to the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2023. In terms of pricing, it is expected to be roughly on par with the GeForce RTX 4070.
