AMD launches AMD 4700S 8-Core processor desktop kit

Remember the AMD 4700S kit that we reported at the end of April and early May? Recently AMD finally put the introduction page of this product on the official website. Its official name is AMD 4700S 8-core processor desktop kit. It is not like other AMD processors with the brand name of Ryzen in front of the model, only the 4700S model.

In fact, AMD is very cautious about the introduction of this AMD 4700S kit. It only says that the kit includes an 8-core Zen 2 architecture processor, motherboard, radiator, and memory. It does not clearly say that it uses 16GB GDDR6 memory. Maybe AMD does not want people to know that this is the Xbox Series X or PS5 processor.

AMD 4700S processor uses 7nm process, Zen2 architecture, 8 cores 16 threads, L3 cache 12MB, maximum acceleration frequency 4GHz. The motherboard is of ITX specification, using standard 24pin and 8pin power supply interfaces, and the power supply is only 4+1 phases. The radiator looks more like the LGA 115X/1200 on the Intel platform from the perspective of the hole pitch, but I don’t know if it is. The radiator has a large metal backplate.  Judging from the shape of the backplane and the power supply next to it, GDDR6 may be soldered to the back of the motherboard.

There is a full-size PCI-E x16 slot on the motherboard but only supports PCI-E 2.0 x4 specifications. AMD also lists the supported graphics cards on the official website, including AMD Radeon 550, RX 550, RX 560, RX 570, RX 580, RX 590 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 710, GT 730, GT 1030, GTX 1050, GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1060, it can be seen that it is not some new graphics card.

The motherboard only provides two SATA 6Gbps ports, no M.2 ports, and four red USB ports on the back panel, which may be USB 3.2 Gen 1, the four black ones are mostly USB 2.0, and the audio ports only have three 3.5mm. There are only three 3.5mm audio interfaces, and the sound card is Realtek ALC897. AMD 4700S is actually only a little better than Core i7-9700, not as good as Ryzen 7 4750G.
