AMD Announces First Games Adding Support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0
AMD has previously introduced FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.0 technology at GDC 2022 and announced a lot of technical details. In addition to releasing the latest Radeon RX 6×50 XT series recently, AMD also confirmed the list of the first games to receive the FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 update.
AMD says the first game to support FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 is Deathloop by Arkane Studios and Bethesda. This is not surprising, after all, AMD used “Death Loop” to show it in the trailer of FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0, and it was confirmed at the time that it would add support for FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 through a patch.
AMD has confirmed that Dead Loop will receive the FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 update on May 12, so this time point is also considered to be the official release date of FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0. I believe there will be more information about FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 by then.
AMD also made a list of the first games to support FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0, with a total of 11 games. In addition to Death Loop, there are Asterigos, Delysium, EVE Online, Farming Simulator 22, Forspoken, Grounded, Microsoft Flight Simulator, NiShuiHan, Perfect World Remake, Swordsman Remake, and Unknown 9: Awakening.
FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 will have four different modes, namely Quality, Balanced, Performance, and Ultra-Performance. At the same time, the performance will vary depending on the selected mode and GPU model, and NVIDIA GPUs are supported. According to AMD, the best enablement level for FHD resolution is at least a Polaris-based Radeon RX 590, or a Pascal-based GeForce GTX 1070.
AMD also mentioned the time required for the game to integrate FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0, and if the game supports NVIDIA DLSS 2.x, it will only take less than three days. AMD will continue to open source FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 and will provide samples, APIs, and plug-ins on the GPUOpen website.
