Amazon voice assistant Alexa is now on the Microsoft Store
HP, Lenovo and Acer have introduced support for Alexa in new PCs released by first-line PC brands, and today Amazon decided to release the voice assistant application on the Microsoft Store. This UWP app needs to run on the Windows 10 April update or later. The foreign media believes that the introduction of Alexa on the Windows 10 platform should bring some healthy competition for Microsoft’s voice assistant Cortana.
In fact, in August this year, there was news that Cortana and Alexa voice assistants would merge. For most users, using a standalone Alexa app on the Windows 10 platform may bring more convenience. Although Alexa is not integrated into Windows 10 like Cortana, it does a lot of work, including setting alarms, checking your calendar entries, playing music, controlling smart appliances, and more.
Currently, the Alexa app on the PC side only supports US, UK and German Amazon accounts. If you don’t live in these areas, if you want to experience the charm of this voice assistant, you can change the country and region to any of the above countries and regions in the Amazon account settings. Amazon said 2019 would promote PC-side Alexa applications for more countries and regions.
