$85 Million Later, Pink Drainer Hackers Shut Down Operation
The hacker group Pink Drainer has announced the conclusion of their activities, claiming to have achieved their goal of stealing $85 million in cryptocurrency. The group promised to dismantle the infrastructure used in their attacks.
Members of Pink Drainer provided other criminals with tools for cryptocurrency theft, employing social engineering tactics and phishing links. In return, they received commissions and percentages of the stolen funds.
The group expressed gratitude to their community for its trust. “We have reached our goal and now, according to plan, it’s time for us to retire. After this message’s publication, we will begin winding down all of our infrastructure. All stored information will be wiped and securely destroyed,” read their statement, highlighted by on-chain researcher ZachXBT.
The cybercriminals believe that their departure will not improve the security situation in the digital assets market, as users will continue to trust scammers and invest in fraudulent projects.
According to the portal ScamSniffer, the perpetrators victimized over twenty thousand individuals.
