Xebec Snap can turn ordinary laptop into triple screens
Several manufacturers have unveiled laptops featuring multiple screens, yet the mainstream configuration remains a single screen. According to a report by Liliputing, Xebec has introduced a product known as Xebec Snap, a laptop accessory designed to convert your notebook into a dual or even triple-screen setup.
The device comprises two main components: a screen and a base. The screen measures 13.3 inches, offering a resolution of 1920×1080, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and a brightness of 400 nits. Considering these specifications, it is a fairly standard notebook screen. It features an aluminum alloy shell and weighs approximately 450 grams.
The base, affixed to the A-side of the laptop, includes a USB Type-C cable for connection and a support brace, a necessity considering the significant weight added to the laptop’s upper half by the additional screens. The connection between the screen and the base is magnetically established, with metal contact points on the back of the screen for data transfer. Users can determine whether they want the screen oriented horizontally or vertically.
In addition to the USB Type-C cable to connect to the laptop, Xebec also provides a Type-C to Type-A converter. However, users are required to install the DisplayLink driver separately. The Xebec Snap can also power laptops via Type-C, with a maximum power output of 60W. This design takes into account that most laptops have only two Type-C ports.
Currently, the Xebec Snap laptop is crowdfunding on Kickstarter. Early bird prices are $399 for the dual-screen version and $659 for the triple-screen one. When officially launched, these prices will rise to $549 for the dual-screen model and $999 for the triple-screen variant. If users are undecided about the triple screen, they can initially opt for the dual screen as additional screens can be easily added later.
