Windows 11 Insider Preview: New Update Fixes Bugs and Upgrades “Click to Do”
Microsoft has released a new test update, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5751 (KB5064071), for members of the Windows Insiders program in the Beta channel. Based on version 24H2, the build introduces new features, improvements, and a host of bug fixes.
The most notable enhancement is the expansion of Click to Do, a tool designed for quickly interacting with on-screen elements. It now supports three selection modes: freehand drawing, rectangular area selection, and multi-select via Ctrl + Click. These additions make working with text, images, and other objects faster and more convenient, particularly on touchscreen devices.
Updates have also reached File Explorer. In the “Open with” context menu, the colored background behind application icons has been removed, resulting in larger and more distinct icons. On the taskbar, a new animation has been introduced when hovering over grouped open applications.
Numerous issues have been resolved. The Start Menu once again displays pinned app grids and context menus correctly. Problems with dark mode in File Explorer and on the lock screen have been fixed. Several Click to Do functions have been restored, and live captions on Copilot+ PCs no longer crash during translation. In addition, the frequency of Desktop Window Manager (DWM) shell failures has been reduced.
There are, however, some known issues. For certain users, the update may roll back with error 0x80070005, though this can be bypassed through system recovery settings. In Europe, failures have been observed with the Recall feature; in File Explorer, the “General” section sometimes appears blank; and in Disk Cleanup, scans of temporary files may freeze. A subset of Insiders also encounter Blue Screen errors when connecting Xbox controllers via Bluetooth—the temporary workaround is to uninstall the driver through Device Manager.
Microsoft reminds testers that many new features are being rolled out gradually and may not be available to all users immediately. Some functions may change before release—or may not make it into the final version of Windows 11 at all.
