Windows 10X emulator supports to run Win32 software

Previously, Microsoft provided Windows 10X Emulator Image for developers. Developers can debug applications and feedback problems during development through the simulator.

The simulator image also lets us know some of the new functions and features of this version, but for the time being, we haven’t found any special attention.

Today, Microsoft updates Windows 10X Emulator Image. This is also the first update released by Microsoft after launching this version of the emulator image, which mainly provides users with window mode to run traditional desktop software with the help of containers.

In addition, this update also improves the modern version of File Explorer to support the OneDrive connection. The following is a detailed introduction of these functions and features.

Windows 10X version does not support the direct running of traditional desktop software due to architectural issues. Instead, it runs with the help of a virtualized container application developed by Microsoft.

The advantage of running software with containers is that each program is in its own container. It can neither modify or destroy the system nor read other application data.

Therefore, running through containers is actually very high in security, but in previous versions, it was easy to only maximize the window and it was a bit inconvenient.

The updated Microsoft-defined window layout can provide users with a simplified window experience, especially on small or dual-screen devices.

However, at present, there are still some problems in the traditional desktop software running in window mode. Microsoft said that it will continue to develop and improve these issues in the future.

The built-in version of Windows 10X is mainly a modern version of File Explorer. This version of File Explorer has a better operating experience on touch screen devices.

However, in terms of functions, it is naturally incomparable with the traditional file explorer.

In this update, the modern version of File Explorer already supports OneDrive, and users need to log in to their Microsoft account to synchronize with the server when they first use it.
