Windows 10 v1809 has compatibility issues with Intel graphics drivers
Microsoft has just updated the Windows 10 Version 1809 issue block list, and the latest compatibility issue added is the Intel graphics driver. Users affected by this installation of the Intel graphics driver v24.20.100.6344/v24.20.100.6345 will be prohibited from upgrading to the new version.
If you have upgraded a new version of Windows 10 and installed the drivers for the above versions, the audio playback connected to your monitor or TV will not work. Microsoft explained that the compatibility issue is mainly Intel’s new graphics driver, Intel graphics driver with Intel audio driver.
Intel inadvertently released the v24.20.100.6344/v24.20.100.6345 graphics driver to some unsupported notebooks or desktops. If the user uses the above graphics driver after upgrading to Windows 10 Version 1809, the audio playback function of the external display will be faulty.
To determine if your PC is affected
1. From the Start menu, type Device Manager in the search box. Select Device Manager from the search results.
2. Find and expand Display adapters.
3. Right-click on the Intel® HD Graphics device.
4. Select Properties.
5. Click the Driver tab.
6. Check your driver version. If the driver version is listed as either 24.20.100.6344, or 24.20.100.6345, your system is affected by this issue. Please contact Microsoft support for a resolution.
If you have already encountered this problem, users need to contact Microsoft customer service for technical support. Microsoft has not directly announced a solution such as uninstalling the driver.
In theory, users should choose to roll back in the driver bar or manually download the old driver installation. It should be feasible for affected users.
Microsoft and Intel will resolve the issue in a future release:
Microsoft said that the company is coordinating with Intel for this issue, letting these drivers automatically expire and update to a new version to be released.
