WIN32 applications can also be submitted to Microsoft Store
Earlier we mentioned that Microsoft may no longer pay attention to the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) platform, but many users are still opposed to these messages. Because from the user’s point of view, many UWP apps may not have ads or advertisements, and the applications that have been reviewed and approved by Microsoft are also more secure. But the biggest problem with the platform is the lack of developer support, and developers who are unwilling to support the UWP platform are relatively small. Although there are enough Windows 10 users, there are not enough users using UWP apps. For Microsoft, this ecosystem has not been done.
Microsoft just announced that the Windows 10 app store will fully support WIN32 apps or games, which are the traditional desktop apps we use. Although Microsoft only mentioned in the official blog that the app store provides full support for WIN32 games, it is reasonable to say that subsequent desktop software will also support it. Microsoft explained on the blog that the company has recognized that WIN32 is an application format that game developers like and that many gamers like. So opening up support for WIN32 will give developers and gamers more choices, giving developers more control over the game ecosystem.
Microsoft said,
“We recognize that Win32 is the app format that game developers love to use and gamers love to play, so we are excited to share that we will be enabling full support for native Win32 games to the Microsoft Store on Windows. This will unlock more options for developers and gamers alike, allowing for the customization and control they’ve come to expect from the open Windows gaming ecosystem.”
