VENENO Gaming Laptop: Compal’s Floating Screen Revolution
Several days ago, we introduced a foldable laptop from Compal, which garnered an iF Design Award. As discovered by Liliputing and the iF website, Compal has received numerous iF Design Awards for their laptops this year, including the VENENO gaming laptop we are about to discuss.
This gaming laptop’s design bears a certain resemblance to the Surface Laptop Studio, as the screen is not directly connected to the base and can seemingly float in mid-air. However, it remains unclear whether it can assume various forms like the Surface Laptop Studio, as neither the concept images nor the description convey such features or mention hinge components.
Nevertheless, VENENO’s most striking aspect is its motherboard placement. In most laptops of this form factor, the motherboard is situated within the base, with an additional bracket for adjusting the screen angle. However, Compal has ingeniously positioned the motherboard within the bracket itself. Based on the design, the base likely contains only the keyboard, touchpad, I/O interface board, and battery.
According to Compal, this design enhances heat dissipation since the intake vents on both the A and B surfaces draw in more cool air, which is then expelled through the four side vents. This significantly outperforms the majority of laptops with bottom intake vents and mitigates the issue of excessive temperatures on the C surface during high loads.
Moreover, Compal emphasizes VENENO’s sustainability and maintainability: the gaming laptop’s shell and related components are crafted from recycled aluminum. Its back cover is easily removable, allowing users to upgrade components such as the SSD.
In conclusion, while the VENENO gaming laptop is an intriguing concept, it remains just that—a concept. However, should any brand take interest in this design, we may well see related products in the future.
