US Department of Justice is planning an antitrust investigation into Google
According to the Wall Street Journal reported that the US Department of Justice is planning an antitrust investigation into Google. The Wall Street Journal quoted an anonymous source as saying that the Federal Trade Commission and the US Department of Justice jointly filed a federal antitrust case. Prior to this, the FTC (Federal Trade Commissioner) conducted a wide-ranging investigation into Google’s antitrust violations in 2013, but it ended up being closed and closed without any action on the latter. Now, the Justice Department is conducting a new, possibly unprecedented, antitrust evaluation of the company.
According to data provided by CNBC, Alphabet’s revenue in 2018 reached $136.8 billion, and it has been under anti-monopoly pressure in the past. In 2010, the company received an antitrust complaint from the European Commission on shopping search results and ad rankings, which led Google to pay $2.7 billion in 2017. In 2016, the European Commission again complained about the monopoly practices associated with Google’s Android operating system, and Google was therefore charged $5.1 billion in 2018.
