US company sold surveillance equipment and sensitive security equipment from China to the US military
Recently, the US federal prosecutor sued a company based in Long Island, New York, saying that it illegally sold surveillance equipment and sensitive security equipment from China to the US military. The company, called Aventura Technologies, was founded in 1999 to design, develop and manufacture a wide range of security hardware, software, and peripheral products for the US government, military, and business.
The US prosecutor pointed out that after re-labeling the Chinese-made equipment, the company sold it to the US military and claimed that the equipment was made in the United States. These devices have been installed in dozens of US Army, Navy, and Air Force bases, as well as on multiple aircraft carriers, with a contractual value of $90 million.
It is reported that a security officer found the logo of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security on the equipment and immediately reported the findings to the relevant departments. Subsequent investigations revealed that the person in charge of the company had asked Chinese manufacturers to erase all the logos in the equipment, including the company name abbreviation on the circuit board, so as not to cause suspicion.
At present, many of the company’s executives and employees are accused of conspiring to commit fraud, the relevant agencies have frozen the bank accounts of these suspects, and confiscated a 70-foot yacht. Some US experts say such fraud will bring potential national security risks to the United States.
