UK NCSC publishes Exercise in a Box tool to helps organizations test and practice their response to a cyber attack
Experts from the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) have designed a new tool to “helps organisations test and practise their response to a cyber attack.” The tool, called Exercise in a Box, has been tested by the government, small business, and emergency services to help organizations in the public and other sectors protect against hacker threats.
Exercise in a Box “provides exercises, based around the main cyber threats, which your organisation can do in your own time, in a safe environment, as many times as you want. It includes everything you need for setting up, planning, delivery, and post-exercise activity, all in one place.”, where organizations can conduct exercises in a secure environment with two different practice areas – technical simulation and table-top discussion.
NCSC CEO Ciaran Martin said that NCSC believes that exercises are one of the most effective ways to test how organizations can respond to network events. With Exercise in a Box, organizations will be able to review current defense and response mechanisms and test existing policies and procedures. The tool will also include more complex scenarios of various sizes and industry organizations. Organisations that want to sign up for Exercise in a Box can do so on the NCSC’s website.
