Ubuntu 20.04 LTS codenamed “Focal Fossa” will be released in April next year
Ubuntu 19.10 “Eoan Ermine” has just been released, and the 20.04 version has also begun to appear. The alphabetical naming convention is still followed, as well as the adjective + animal naming convention. The new version begins with “F” and is codenamed “Focal Fossa”.
Ubuntu 20.04 is the next long-term supported version of Ubuntu, this is a very appropriate name that will become the core of the Canonical software portfolio. “fossa” is a “cat-like, carnivorous mammal” living in Madagascar and the largest carnivorous mammal in the region.
According to the official statement, from home desktops to mission-critical clouds, Ubuntu’s long-term support version is the most widely used, with thousands of users. Therefore, stability, predictability, and reliability are critical to the LTS release.
