Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) first alpha release
The Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) first alpha version was released today, but only the Opt-in Flavors version will follow the release of the alpha version.
Ubuntu 17.10 continues Ubuntu’s tradition, will go through two Alpha and two Beta milestone versions. The newly released version of Alpha 1 will be based on the latest release of the stable version – Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus).
This means that Ubuntu 17.10 Alpha 1 will continue to follow Ubuntu 17.04 kernel and graphics stack, including Linux 4.10 installation package, X.Org Server 1.19.3 display service, Mesa 17.1.2 3D graphics library.
The first Alpha milestone version, only three flavor version will follow up, each version will contain a lot of updates. Ubuntu 17.10 Alpha 2 will be released on July 27, Beta 2 will be released on September 28, the final official version is expected to be released on October 19.
