Ubisoft will shut down online services for many games in January next year

Ubisoft has announced that it will cease online services for several legacy games across various platforms on January 25, 2024. While Ubisoft remains committed to supporting its vintage titles, the obsolescence of the technologies driving these services has made such a step imperative.

Ubisoft Online Services

A list provided by Ubisoft enumerates several beloved games spanning the PC, MAC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 platforms, specifically:

  • Assassin’s Creed II – Xbox 360
  • Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – MAC
  • Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
  • Assassin’s Creed Revelations – PC
  • Ghost Recon Future Soldier – PC
  • Heroes of Might and Magic VI – PC
  • NCIS – PC
  • R.U.S.E – PC
  • Splinter Cell: Conviction – XBox 360
  • Trials Evolution – PC

Ubisoft clarified that players will no longer have access to multiplayer gameplay, in-game Ubisoft account linkage, or any online functionalities. Additionally, Ubisoft Connect rewards will become inaccessible. With the cessation of these online services, only certain online features will be impacted, ensuring that players can still engage with these purchased titles.

It’s worth noting that back in September 2022, Ubisoft similarly terminated online services for 15 titles, including the likes of “Far Cry 3”, effectively removing multiplayer modes and limiting access to certain downloadable content. These actions encompassed games on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC platforms.
