The Nintendo president says no new Switch models will be launched this year

Since Nintendo released the Switch in March 2017, there have been rumors that Nintendo will also release a more expensive, higher-configured, more-functional Switch model. Last year, media reports said that there are two new Switch is under development, one is mainly cheap, the other is strong configuration.

To this day, we have learned that the cheap Switch model is the Switch Lite released on September 20 last year, but today, one year after that report, we still don’t see the so-called Switch Pro. But various media also believe that Nintendo will release Switch Pro this year.

On Friday, Nintendo discussed internally the company’s financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2020. Although they did not disclose much information about this, a word from Nintendo’s president caught everyone’s attention.

With regard to Nintendo ’s Switch business, we believe that the most important thing at the moment is to continue to promote the appeal of the Switch gaming system and expand sales, please note that we have “no plans” to launch a new Switch model this year.

After Nintendo’s first quarterly results, the company hopes to continue to focus on Switch and Switch Lite rather than launch higher-end models to further fragment the existing market.
