The legacy version of Microsoft Edge will no longer be pre-installed in Windows 10 21H1
The legacy version of Microsoft Edge has now ended support, Microsoft will not provide any features or even security updates for the browser.
And next month, Microsoft will directly delete the legacy version of the Microsoft Edge browser through cumulative updates, instead of just hiding it and users can still continue to use it.
It is worth noting that the browser will be deleted forcibly after the cumulative update is installed, but users can continue to use the browser if they never install the cumulative update.
Of course, for users, not installing cumulative updates means that failure to fix vulnerabilities may cause more serious problems. Microsoft recommends users migrate to the new version as soon as possible.
Microsoft has also released a supporting document confirming that the legacy version of Microsoft Edge is no longer pre-installed starting from Windows 10 21H1 and does not support separate installation.
In other words, if the user newly installs this Windows 10 version, the Microsoft Edge Legacy disappears, and the user cannot restore the classic browser by modifying certain policies.
Windows 10 21H1 will be released in the spring. The release date is very close. It is expected that Microsoft will officially release it from the end of April to the beginning of May.
Starting from the new version, the default browser will be the Microsoft Edge based on the Chromium version.
