The first AMD B550 motherboard with Thunderbolt 4 is released
Due to the fact that AMD and Intel two processor manufacturers have not changed their motherboards in recent years, and consumers cannot buy them due to the shortage of processors, the motherboard market has not attracted much attention.
As a model of the processor market, AMD seems to have no interest in replacing the motherboard frequently. AM4 motherboard has been used for many years and announced that the Ryzen 6000 series will be replaced. Before that, most of the AMD motherboards we can use are X570, B550, and A520.
Among them, B550 is a motherboard launched by AMD in August 2020. Since AMD has released this is the last generation of motherboards with AM4 motherboard, most motherboard manufacturers have not given a particularly large capacity to 500 series motherboards, and many manufacturers have even stopped Research and development of new 500 series motherboards, but Asus seems to be an exception.
Today, Asustek launched a new motherboard of ProArt B550-Creator, which is mainly for creative workers, and the price is 299 US dollars. It seems that this is nothing new.
But ProArt B550 Creator brings us a surprise, that is, it supports Intel’s Thunderbolt 4 technology, and it has two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Previously, only Intel desktop motherboards supported Thunderbolt 4.
According to ASUS’s introduction, in addition to two Thunderbolt 4 ports, this motherboard also supports HDMI video output, dual 2.5G Ethernet connections, and is equipped with a Realtek ALC1220A HD audio codec.
ProArt B550 Creator supports AMD Ryzen 5000 and 3000 series processors, and the memory supports DDR4-4866MHz.
