The drive defrag tool of Windows 10 v2004 has failures

The latest version of Windows 10’s disk optimization tool is faulty, and its defragmentation function cannot record the defragmentation time, resulting in repeated defragmentation.

When the user views the defragmentation tool, it will be prompted that no defragmentation has been performed—even if it has been defragmented, the user will still be prompted to do so again.

In the same way, this will not only cause repeated defragmentation for users but also cause the system to continuously initiate defragmentation operations because the defragmentation time is not recorded correctly.

It seems that it is very difficult for Microsoft to admit this kind of problem. I don’t know if Microsoft is worried that it will lose face and affect its reputation after admitting it or is unwilling to fix it.

This problem was actually discovered by users when the latest version of Windows 10 was released, but Microsoft has not confirmed the existence of the problem in the past few months.

No confirmation also means that there is no fix. Until now, Microsoft has acknowledged the existence of this problem and has already started to make a repair patch that will be pushed later.

Microsoft said that the company is aware of the problem with the drive optimization tool, and as planned, the company will fix it in the beta update to be released next week.

The C/D test updates released next week will only be available to users who manually check for updates, and the type B updates released on September 8 will be pushed to all users.
