The supply of graphics cards seems to have improved significantly in 2022, and perhaps many users will expect prices to be closer to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). In fact, there is still a big gap between the graphics card price and the MSRP. AMD Radeon RX 6000 series cards averaged 45% higher, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series cards averaged 57% higher. The drop in prices has been accompanied by an improvement in supply, with data showing that the supply of graphics cards is currently at its best since 2021.
In the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series, the premium of Radeon RX 6700 XT/RX 6800/RX 6800 XT is still relatively high, reaching 55%, 73%, and 69% respectively. The Radeon RX 6900 XT/RX 6600 XT/RX 6600 have comparable premiums, 33%, 33% and 32% respectively. The smallest premium is the latest Radeon RX 6500 XT at just 17%.
Most models of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series still have a premium of more than 50%. However, the premium of some products is similar to AMD, such as the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, which has a premium of 32%, which may be a good choice for high-end users. The recently launched
GeForce RTX 3050 price is high, with a current premium of 49%. As Nvidia further increases the supply of the GeForce RTX 3050, perhaps the price will drop.
It remains to be seen whether the overall graphics card prices will continue to decline. It is rumored that the prices of some high-end components will increase by 10% to 20%, which will hinder the downward trend of graphics cards.
