Synology launches DiskStation DS723+

Synology recently released DiskStation DS723+, the smallest product among Synology’s full-featured solutions for home offices and small businesses.

DiskStation DS723+ measures 166x106x223mm in size and weighs 1.51 kg. It has dual mechanical hard drives, and dual M.2 2280 hard drives, and is equipped with an AMD Ryzen R1600 processor. The processor is an embedded design, the first-generation Zen architecture, TDP12-25W, dual-core four-thread, base frequency 2.6GHz, acceleration frequency 3.1GHz, L2 cache 1MB, L3 cache 4MB, and supports dual-channel DDR4 2400MHz ECC memory.

In terms of internal expandability, DS723+ has two DDR4 memory slots, a single 2GB memory slot is pre-installed at the factory, and supports a maximum of 32GB memory; a PCI-E 3.0×2 network card upgrade slot, users can check the hardware compatibility on the official website before upgrading the network card. In terms of external interfaces, DS723+ has two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, and one eSATA port. DS723+ is equipped with a single system fan with a size of 92mmx92mm, and has three modes of full speed, low temperature, and mute; the power adapter is 65W.

In terms of function, DS723+ supports mechanical hard disk hot swap; supports EEC memory, can automatically correct data protection data; supports advanced snapshot function, easy to restore files. It can also be used as a virtual machine storage device, supporting software virtual machines such as VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer.

Compared with DS923+, DS723+ has almost no reduction in processor, internal and external interfaces. The main difference is that DS923+ has four mechanical hard drives, 4GB of memory, and two system fans pre-installed at the factory, and the output power of the power adapter is also upgraded to 100W.
