Sony confirmed to launch PS5 VR Headset

During the VR boom in the past few years, Sony’s Playstation VR also has a lower overall cost and there is some fun game support, which has won the preferences of many players, of course, due to the lack of support for more game masterpieces. With the ebb of the VR market, PS VR has faded out of mainstream players’ vision, but Sony is obviously still optimistic about VR application in console games. So Sony announced its choice to continue to launch a new generation of PS VR on the next-generation console PS5, and this time the supporting peripherals will be greatly improved.

Sony has only announced the new generation PS VR controller’s appearance and has not released any information about the key component of the head-mounted display. However, according to Bloomberg, this new headset will use Samsung to provide a new OLED panel. However, the screen resolution is relatively low, only 960*1080 per eye.

But now that many years have passed, the screen panels used for VR have also improved a lot. It is said that Samsung will provide a resolution of 4000*2080 (2000*2080 per eye), which will greatly improve the resolution. As for the refresh rate, it is currently unknown. But it should also be an improvement. After all, a higher refresh rate is also a very important specification for VR, and Sony chose to use a higher resolution panel this time. It should also benefit from the fact that the hardware performance of the PS5 itself is much better than that of the PS4, and it can better cope with games under high-definition screens.

In terms of refresh rate, contrast, and brightness, OLED is inherently conducive to the display of content that is very close to the human eye, such as VR, but the cost is relatively higher, and Sony insists on using better panels, which can be regarded as providing players with a better gaming experience. At present, the price and launch date of the new generation of PS VR has not been announced, so if you want to play VR, you can buy PS5 first.
