Affected by the global shortage of chips, Samsung, like other chip manufacturers, has always been in short supply. The demand for chips for both mobile phones and servers is very high. Although the raw materials and transportation costs of consumer electronic products have risen a lot under the epidemic, because the prices of Samsung memory chips are relatively high, it can still make a considerable profit. The revenue of Samsung’s storage division rose 46% compared to the same period last year, while the revenue of the semiconductor businesses almost doubled, from 5.54 trillion won to 10.06 trillion won, which is about $8.5 billion.

Samsung is currently the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, and it also stated in its financial report that its latest folding-screen phones Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, as well as other mid-to-low-end Galaxy series smartphones, have strong demand.

In the future, Samsung expects that its mobile screen revenue in the fourth quarter will still be considerable, because not only mobile phones use OLED screens, but notebooks, tablet computers, and game consoles such as Switch OLED all use OLED screens.
