Samsung’s Q1 revenue was $58.9 billion, an increase of 18.19% from the same period last year
Today, Samsung Electronics released its financial report for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2021 as of March 31. The financial report shows that Samsung’s first-quarter revenue was 65.39 trillion won (approximately $58.924 billion), an increase of 18.19% from 55.33 trillion won in the same period last year; the net profit attributable to shareholders of Samsung’s parent company was 7.09 trillion won (approximately $6.392 billion), an increase of 45.06% from 4.89 trillion won in the same period of the previous year.
In terms of expenditure, Samsung’s capital expenditure in the first quarter was 9.7 trillion won (approximately $8.741 billion), of which semiconductor business capital expenditure was 8.5 trillion won and display panel business capital expenditure was 0.7 trillion won.
The combined revenue of the IT and mobile communications divisions in the first quarter was 29.21 trillion won (approximately $26.322 billion), and operating profit was 4.39 trillion won (approximately $3.956 billion); the semiconductor division’s combined revenue in the first quarter was 190,100 billion won (approximately $17.131 billion), and operating profit was 3.37 trillion won (approximately $3.037 billion).
Consolidated revenue of the consumer electronics division in the first quarter was 12.99 trillion won (approximately $11.706 billion), operating profit was 1.12 trillion won (approximately $1.009 billion); the first-quarter sales of the display panel sector were 6.92 trillion won (about $6.236 billion), operating profit 0.36 trillion won (about $324 million).
