Samsung’s latest patent reveals its clamshell foldable tablet design
The foldable electronic device market is still in its infancy. Almost every technology company is trying to bring its own foldable products to the market. Samsung Korea is also one of the companies committed to developing foldable electronic devices. Recently, their Galaxy Fold has been put on the market, but this is not enough. They seem to have prepared a lot of interesting foldable electronic devices for us.
The European Union Intellectual Property Office and the World Intellectual Office database recently announced a product patent filed by Samsung Electronics, entitled “GALAXY TAB FOLDABLE TABLET”, which introduces three different types of foldable electronic devices.
In the first design, the hinge for folding and flipping is located in the middle of the device, turning up like a flip phone. However, the design is different from the Galaxy Fold. It doesn’t have a small screen outside, so it looks more like Microsoft’s Surface Neo / Duo. When you expand the device, it looks no different from a tablet. Since the title of the patent is “mobile phone”, we guess that this device will have the same basic functions as a mobile phone, such as making calls.
Interestingly, the location of the camera is not shown in this patent picture, so we guess that this device will be equipped with an under-screen camera. At the same time, since one side of the screen can be used as a keyboard, it is no problem to use it as an Android laptop but this is no different from an Android tablet.
