Samsung unveils Galaxy SmartTag2 positioning device
Following the unveiling of the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE series, and the Galaxy Buds FE, as a move to augment the Galaxy device ecosystem, Samsung has now introduced the new Galaxy SmartTag2 tracking device.
In stark contrast to its predecessor, the Galaxy SmartTag, the newly launched Galaxy SmartTag2 boasts a completely revamped aesthetic design, featuring a prominent aperture for more convenient user attachment. Enhanced with a metallic ring for heightened durability, it remains powered by the CR2032 battery, offering a typical standby time of approximately 500 days. With its innovative power-saving mode activated, this longevity can extend up to 700 days.
Available in both monochromatic shades of black and white, the device is engineered with IP67 water-resistant capabilities. It integrates low-energy Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, allowing users to employ the AR Find feature. This, in conjunction with a Galaxy series phone, provides augmented reality-guided direction to the Galaxy SmartTag2’s exact location. Bluetooth tracking spans up to 120 meters, but remote tracking is also feasible through a mesh network formed with other Galaxy devices.
The newly incorporated Lost Mode permits swift access to the preset contact information on the Galaxy SmartTag2 when scanned with an NFC-enabled phone. Moreover, a Pet Walking Mode captures the chosen route, and the advanced CompassView function allows UWB-equipped Galaxy phones to pinpoint the exact direction of the Galaxy SmartTag2, showcasing the relative distance between the user and the tracker.
Furthermore, should users upgrade to a newer Galaxy series phone, the Galaxy SmartTag2 seamlessly syncs and connects to the new device, ensuring effortless continuity.
The Galaxy SmartTag2 is slated for an October release via official Samsung channels and select outlets with a $30 price tag. In tandem, protective silicone cases and shock-resistant covers will also be introduced.
