According to
The Elec, Samsung plans to launch a 77-inch OLED TV and a 49-inch OLED display in the first quarter of this year. This means that Samsung will have at least three OLED TVs and two OLED displays this year, and currently offers 55-inch and 65-inch OLED TVs, as well as 34-inch OLED displays.
According to sources, these products will use Samsung’s OLED panels, that is, continue to choose their own QD-OLED panels. At present, in addition to using QD-OLED panels, Samsung will also purchase W-OLED panels from LG. However, using QD-OLED as the focus of promotion may confuse consumers. After all, most customers are confused about the difference between QD-OLED, QLED, Neo QLED, and OLED.
Samsung originally wanted to use a 48-inch OLED panel, but the panel production department rejected it and proposed to change it to 49 inches. The reason is that the display panel is cut into different sizes from one glass substrate, and on one 8.5-generation substrate, two 77-inch panels and two 48-inch panels or two 77-inch and two 49-inch panels can be obtained. This means cutting out a 48-inch panel isn’t really more economical for Samsung Display to do as compared to a 49-inch panel. There is no economic advantage, so there is no reason not to opt for a larger panel size.
