Samsung plans to focus more resources on foldable phones

The Korea Times reported that Samsung will focus more resources on foldable phones in the future, which may reduce the proportion of the annual flagship smartphone Galaxy S development in the future.

Samsung is currently preparing to launch a new foldable phone in August this year, and it is expected to launch the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 4, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which is a price-friendly model. At the same time, by adjusting the prices of models such as the Galaxy Z Flip 3 last year, Samsung has apparently continued to test the market’s acceptable price range for foldable phones.

Prior to this, Samsung indicated that it will expand the market layout of the foldable mobile phone in the future. It even canceled the Galaxy Note series product line that was routinely launched in the second half of the year and incorporated its design elements into the Galaxy S series. In the continuous improvement of the development layout of the foldable mobile phone, at the same time, the Galaxy A series mobile phones are also used to meet the needs of most market use, coupled with the actual user needs of the current market, the sales of Galaxy S series flagship phones may gradually shrink in the future. However, it will still retain the status of the annual flagship mobile phone, but Samsung’s future development focus will focus on the foldable mobile phone.
On the other hand, before the actual launch of Apple’s rumored foldable phone, Samsung clearly hopes to gain more market share of the foldable phone. In addition, more and more mobile phone manufacturers have begun to compete in the market of foldable mobile phones, and they are grabbing market share with a low-cost strategy, which may also make Samsung more hopeful to gain a firm foothold in the foldable mobile phone market.
