It was previously reported that Samsung plans to release a new generation of Galaxy S23 series smartphones in the first week of February 2023. The Galaxy S23 (SM-S9110), Galaxy S23+ (SM-S9160), and Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-S9180) obtained 3C certification earlier, showing that they will be equipped with a 25W EP-TA800 charger.
Recently, Twitter user @TheGalox_ said that the situation seems to have changed now. Samsung has decided to postpone the release time of the Galaxy S23 series. It is said that the pricing difficulties of the Galaxy S23 series may be one of the main reasons for Samsung’s delayed release, and there is no unified opinion internally.
It is rumored that the Galaxy S23 series has not changed much compared with the Galaxy S22 series. Among them, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ have been upgraded to Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8 platform. The rest is unchanged, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature an upgraded screen and a 200MP camera in addition to a new SoC. This means that the hardware differences between the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy S22 series are small, and most of the components are common to the previous generation.
If the appearance changes are minor, and the internal hardware has been simply upgraded, then it is not realistic to want to increase the price. It is understood that Samsung may lower the price of the Galaxy S23 as much as possible in order to be more competitive, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra may increase the price because the upgrade will be larger, and more selling points will help improve profit margins. If the Galaxy S23 series has unique features, Samsung can justifiably raise prices, such as satellite communication capabilities.
