Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will have ‘thermometer function’

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 4 series of smartwatches in August 2021. The series provides a variety of functions, such as being equipped with a BioActive body vitality sensor, which can measure a number of key human health indicators, supporting blood oxygen concentration detection, blood pressure monitoring, electrocardiogram, multiple exercise modes, sleep modes, and more. If nothing else, a new generation of Galaxy Watch 5 series watches will be released this year. According to the latest news from the Korea IT News, the Galaxy Watch 5 series has added a thermometer function.

The newly added thermometer function can help users detect early signs such as colds, fever, and even track ovulation cycles. Although there are already many smartwatches on the market that support body temperature detection, Samsung believes that these functions are biased because they are susceptible to direct sunlight. The influence of external environments such as sports can easily make the sensors built into the watch easy to obtain wrong information, which is why major manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung have not launched watches that support body temperature detection.

It is reported that Samsung has solved this temperature detection problem. In fact, body temperature detection has become one of the themes of Samsung’s wearable devices this year. Samsung is also currently planning to introduce a body temperature detection function on the new generation of Galaxy Buds earphones, and the prototype of the earphones has been designed.

According to data released by the market research agency IDC, Apple occupies nearly one-third of the global market share in the wearable device market. And Samsung, lagging behind Apple, is planning to launch wearable products with innovative health features to narrow the gap with Apple.
