Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra breaks 1600 single-core score in Geekbench 5

According to previous reports, Samsung held the “Galaxy Unpack 2023” at 10:00 AM PST on February 1, 2023, and officially released the Galaxy S23 series of smartphones, all of which are equipped with a customized version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 platform. The maximum frequency of the X3 large core can reach 3.36GHz, which is 0.16GHz higher than the original version. There are still a few days before the official release of the mobile phone, and Twitter user @golden_reviewer has posted the GeekBench 5 and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme benchmark results of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

SM-918B is the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Geekbench software version is 5.5.1, with a single-core score of 1604 and a multi-core score of 5311. Earlier, some netizens also leaked the Geekbench 5 score of this model. At that time, the single-core score was 1504 points and the multi-core score was 4580 points. After a period of optimization, the performance of the smartphone has improved to a certain extent. The single-core score has increased by about 6.6% compared to before, and the multi-core score has increased by about 16%. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra became the first Android phone with a single-core score of 1600 on Geekbench 5.

For comparison, the A16 Bionic processor equipped on the iPhone 14 Pro series has a maximum acceleration frequency of 3.46GHz, a single-core score of about 1850, and a multi-core score of about 5400. There is still a certain gap between the two processors in single-core performance, and Apple’s lead in multi-core performance is already relatively small.

Golden_Reviewer also posted the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test results of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, with a total score of 3819 and an average frame rate of 22.9. For comparison, the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen2 scored about 3700 points in this test. The performance improvement is not obvious, about 3%. However, the GPU frequency of the customized version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 platform is only increased by 39Mhz compared to the standard version, which is about 5%.
