RTX 40 Series Dominates South Korea: RTX 30 Era Ends
Recently, according to a report by Danawa, the RTX 40 series graphics cards have completely supplanted the RTX 30 series as the mainstream in the South Korean market. The RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti held the first and second places in April’s market share, with 27.7% and 21.63%, respectively, amounting to nearly 50% combined. Among the newly released Super series graphics cards, the RTX 4070 Super proved the most popular, achieving a 14.86% market share within four months of its launch, quickly ascending to third place among all graphics cards, followed closely by the RTX 4070, which accounted for 2.29% of the total sales.
As the market share of RTX 40 series graphics cards increased, the RTX 30 series share dropped below 10%, with the most popular RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3060 combined accounting for only 6.38% of April’s sales. In terms of pricing, the RTX 4070 Super saw the most significant reduction, with its average April price falling to 77,102 KRW, a 7.8 percentage point decrease since its release. This notable price drop encouraged some users to switch from the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 to the RTX 4070 Super, despite the average prices of the latter two also decreasing by 4.3 and 6.6 percentage points, respectively.
Similarly, in the US market, only the RTX 3060 from the 30 series remained in the top ten graphics card sales on Amazon and Newegg, with the rest being 40 series or AMD cards. However, in Steam’s April hardware survey, the RTX 3060 still ranked first with a 6.92% share, followed by the GTX 1650. The combined share of the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 reached 5.09%, and given the current trend of upgrades, their market share is expected to increase further in the future.
