Report: the U.S. is pressing Japan and other allies to ban Chinese apps
Previously, the US government represented by Trump called on the American people to agree to ban the short video application TikTok from ByteDance because of privacy and security issues.
For now, there are no specific results for adding ByteDance to the entity list, but the White House has banned employees from installing TikTok applications on federal devices.
It is worth noting that the US government is even pressing its allies to require Japan and other countries to also ban the mobile application of Bytedance through administrative orders or laws.
A few days ago, Japan’s ruling party sent the Liberal Democratic Party of Parliamentary Union has initiated a proposal to ban TikTok, the application is also very popular among Japanese young people with tens of millions of users.
Japanese media reported that this was the result of pressure from the US government. The US government is currently asking Japan and other allies to jointly block the TikTok application.
The US government tried to block ByteDance on the grounds of stealing national privacy. US State Department officials expressed the hope that Japan can cooperate with the United States, which will help deepen the alliance, but the final decision is still left to Japan.
