Raspberry Pi Foundation launched a free online code editor for young people

The Raspberry Pi Foundation recently announced the launch of a web-based online code editor, freely available for public use.

Designed to assist individuals aged seven and above in learning to write code, this web-based online code editor primarily targets young people and students participating in Code Clubs and CoderDojos, as well as those engaging in home-based learning.

Currently, in its testing phase, the online code editor supports Python as its first programming language, primarily due to its widespread popularity among schools, Code Clubs, CoderDojos, young code writers, and educators. Python is also often the initial programming language encountered by many individuals learning code editing.

Boasting a minimalist user interface, the editor allows users to execute and display their code directly. Access to all services requires only the creation of a complimentary account, with features such as cloud storage for code content and the option to download files as ZIP archives.

In addition to Python, the Raspberry Pi Foundation plans to incorporate web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in the future.
