Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 870 5G

Qualcomm recently announced the launch of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G chip. This chip is a new version launched by Qualcomm to meet the needs of manufacturers after the launch of the Snapdragon 888 chip.

This chip is slightly better than Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ in performance. It can be said that the Snapdragon 870 is optimized and upgraded on the basis of the 865 series.

Its core is exactly the same as the Snapdragon 865 series but the main frequency is slightly increased. The main frequency of the Snapdragon 870 5G chip is 3.2GHz slightly higher than that of the Snapdragon 865 series.

The main frequency of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is 2.84GHz and the main frequency of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ is 3.1GHz. Why do you specially launch this upgraded and optimized version?

Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip is undoubtedly Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. This chip has a higher performance than the previous generation in terms of performance and power consumption.

But the price of this flagship chip is naturally not cheap. Although some manufacturers will use this chip, it is limited to flagship devices, and other devices are naturally missed.

In fact, Android device manufacturers can continue to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 series, but it seems that manufacturers may not like the previously released processors.

Therefore, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 model may completely meet the needs of manufacturers, allowing Android device manufacturers to use this chip.

Of course, there is no difference for users. Perhaps the models equipped with the Snapdragon 865 series can be slightly cheaper than the 870 models, although the performance is the same.

According to Qualcomm, the chip will be shipped in 2021Q1, when equipment manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, and Motorola will use the chip.
