Qualcomm has confirmed that Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor will be the first to adopt its satellite network connection technology
During this year’s MWC 2023, Qualcomm’s focus has been on linking various types of network computing through its technology. It emphasizes that it will continue to promote mobile phones, IoT devices, smart vehicles, industrial IoT, and edge network computing needs, including its edge AI computing capabilities, through its computing, graphics display, multimedia, camera, connectivity, and front-end RF antennas. Additionally, it has confirmed that the satellite network connection technology unveiled at CES 2023 earlier this year will be adopted by Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor, among others.
However, Qualcomm did not disclose further details on subsequent collaboration partners or when the first wave of collaborative partners is expected to launch its applications. Nevertheless, it is expected that more satellite-connected communication support for mobile phones and other applications will be launched this year.
Qualcomm also emphasized its leading position in the development of Wi-Fi and 5G network technologies, as well as its deep collaborations with telecom companies around the world. In addition to further technical integration in virtualized wireless access networks and open architecture wireless access networks, it also collaborates with many companies in private network construction.
Moreover, through the previously proposed Qualcomm Aware platform, it emphasizes promoting industrial digital transformation and driving mobile computing performance growth through its Snapdragon series processors. Additionally, it promotes the development of virtual visual applications through its Snapdragon Spaces computing platform, allowing telecom operators to further tap into the trend of the metaverse.
Through recent advances in AI technology, Qualcomm has enabled mobile phones equipped with Snapdragon processors to provide the computational power required for AI-generated graphics. This highlights a new development layout for future mobile computing and how AI can be used to achieve greater computational capabilities.
Finally, in the development of smart vehicle applications, Qualcomm states that it will further promote the computing capabilities of smart vehicles through 5G network technology and achieve a new mode of operation. Additionally, it can further realize autonomous driving capabilities through satellite network connectivity.
