Qualcomm announces support list for 5G network operators with Snapdragon 8cx processor
The Snapdragon 8cx processor is a new processor developed by Qualcomm for desktop devices. The processor was released last fall and related products are now coming soon.
Although this processor is based on the ARM architecture, it is aimed at desktop platforms, which is also considered as Qualcomm’s entry into the desktop field to challenge Intel.
In terms of equipment, the processor mainly provides support for Windows 10 ARM laptops, which is the result of secret cooperation between Qualcomm and Microsoft.
The biggest feature of these laptops is that they can be used immediately without shutdown and always connected, and also support 4G LTE/5G high-speed mobile networks around the world.
In theory, this processor is compatible with the network standards of operators around the world, but this also requires Qualcomm to cooperate with operators around the world to provide compatibility.
At present, the list of 5G network operators that can be successfully compatible has been announced. Therefore, after purchasing a Windows 10 ARM notebook computer equipped with a Snapdragon 8cx processor, users can choose to open a 5G network for high-speed network connection.
Of course, the premise is that the user’s area already has 5G network coverage, otherwise it will still be downgraded to the 4G LTE network.
In the North American market, the only compatible carriers are Verizon and Sprint. If users use AT & T or T-Mobile, they can only use 4G LTE networks for the time being. There are many compatible operators in Asia and Oceania, including China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, KDDI, SoftBank, KT, LG U +, Telstra, etc. The following operators are supported in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa: UK EE, Swisscom, Telefonica, TIM, Transatel.
